Operators can be used when writing expressions.
< (less than)
The less than operator (<) returns a boolean value indicating whether the value of the first argument is less than the value of the second.

Operators can be used when writing expressions.
- + (addition)
  The addition operator (+) returns the result of adding the two arguments together.
- - (subtraction)
  The subtraction operator (-) returns the result of subtracting the second argument from the first.
- * (multiplication)
  The multiplication operator (*) returns the result of multiplying the two arguments together.
- / (division)
  The division operator (/) returns the result of dividing the first argument by the second.
- ^ (exponentiation)
  The exponentiation operator (^) returns the result of raising the first argument to the power of the second.
- = (equality)
  The equality operator (=) returns a boolean value indicating whether the value of the first argument is equal to (one of the values of) the second.
- <> (inequality)
  The inequality operator (<>) returns a boolean value indicating whether the value of the first argument is not equal to (any of the values in) the second.
- < (less than)
  The less than operator (<) returns a boolean value indicating whether the value of the first argument is less than the value of the second.
- <= (less than or equal to)
  The less than or equal to operator (<=) returns a boolean value indicating whether the value of the first argument is less than or equal to the value of the second.
- > (greater than)
  The greater than operator (>) returns a boolean value indicating whether the value of the first argument is greater than the value of the second.
- >= (greater than or equal to)
  The greater than or equal to operator (>=) returns a boolean value indicating whether the value of the first argument is greater than or equal to the value of the second.
- & (logical and)
  The logical and operator (&) returns true if both arguments are true.
- | (logical or)
  The logical or operator (|) returns true if either argument is true.
- ~ (logical not)
  The logical not operator (~) returns the logical negation of the argument.
- ? (child elements)
  For XML values, the ? operator returns the XML fragment containing the child elements of @xml.

`<` (less than)

The less than operator (<) returns a boolean value indicating whether the value of the first argument is less than the value of the second.

`X`	any simple type	A scalar expression or column expression
`Y`	any simple type	A scalar expression or column expression

Return Value

Returns a boolean value of 1 or 0 indicating whether or not X is less than Y.

The data type of the result is integer.

If X is N/A, the result is 1; otherwise, if Y is N/A the result is 0. (N/A is treated as if it were less than any other value.)
